Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Using Tools (“we”, “us”, the “Site”, reachable at usingtools.org) is a collection of free, browser-based utilities. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data when you use it. The short version: almost everything you do on Using Tools happens locally, inside your own browser, and never reaches our servers.
1. What we don’t collect
Using Tools does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use. The files and content you work with — images, PDFs, text, spreadsheets, or anything else you drop into a tool — are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers, and we have no way of seeing them.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data, because we do not collect it in the first place.
2. Information stored on your device
To make the Site more convenient, a small amount of preference data is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage and a single preference cookie). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:
- Your selected theme (light or dark).
- Your selected language.
- Tools you have bookmarked and tools you have recently used.
You can clear this information at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for usingtools.org, or by using your browser’s private/incognito mode.
3. Server logs
Like virtually every website, the infrastructure that serves Using Tools (our hosting provider) automatically records standard technical logs for security and reliability purposes — for example, IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use this information only in aggregate, to keep the Site secure and understand overall traffic; we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
4. Tools that fetch a URL you provide
A small number of tools (for example, an SEO/page analyzer) ask you for a web page address and fetch that page’s content on your behalf so it can be analyzed in your browser. When you use one of these tools, the URL you enter is sent to our server only to retrieve that specific page; the fetched content is returned directly to your browser and is not logged, stored, or associated with you. Only use this feature with URLs you have the right to access and analyze.
5. Contact form
The “Contact” option on the Site opens your own email application with a pre-filled message addressed to us. We do not run a server-side contact form — nothing you type there is sent anywhere until you choose to send the email yourself, through your own email provider.
7. Advertising (Google AdSense)
Using Tools displays ads served through Google AdSense to help keep the Site free to use. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to deliver ads and, where permitted, to personalize them based on your activity on this and other sites.
We do not control which specific ads are shown or what data Google’s advertising systems collect for that purpose — that is governed by Google’s own policies:
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Google’s Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, a consent banner (served through a Google-certified consent management platform) is shown before any non-essential advertising technology is used. You can consent, decline, or open “Manage options” to make detailed choices per purpose and vendor, and you can change your choice at any time from that same banner.
Wherever you are located, you can review and adjust how Google personalizes ads for you directly at adssettings.google.com. Ads are placed below the tool or category listing you came for, never in a way that blocks or replaces it.
8. Third-party services
Some pages may link out to third-party websites (for example, documentation or resources referenced from a tool). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites, and we encourage you to review their own policies.
9. Children’s privacy
Using Tools is a general-audience utility site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because we do not operate accounts or server-side data collection for the Site’s tools.
10. Your rights and choices
Because we don’t hold personal data or files on our servers, there is generally nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf — that data already lives only on your device, under your control. If you believe we hold any information about you and would like to ask a question about it, you can reach us using the contact details below.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as the Site adds new tools or features. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
